Adults at Disney…

Baby Booming at Disney!!!

For those of us who were around to enjoy Disney when we were given little
paper tickets for rides in categorizes of “A”, “B”, “C”, or “D” going back to Disney may be better than it was the first time! This time around, we don’t care if a child who is with us eats 2 ice cream bars or eats nothing but corn muffins at the buffet that just cost us $30 for his meal. This time we might have just a little more time to enjoy our surroundings without the constraints of school, work and all the craziness that raising a family entail.

Having more time lets you savor the moments. Screaming is still allowed and encouraged on “Big Thunder Mountain” and laughing at Big Al in “Country Bear Jamboree” is still as much fun as it was when you were sitting next to your 5-year-old in the ‘80’s. Everything is still the same, but still a little different. Here are some tips to make your trip memorable for all the right reasons:

1-If you are tired or hot-STOP! You aren’t running a marathon. Take the time to have a drink and people watch. Going to the ER on your vacation is never fun. BTW, always carry your Insurance card in case it is ever needed and make sure you have someone to call in an emergency.

2- I’ll admit it. I take Blood Pressure meds. If you forget to bring yours, all is not lost. Contact the front desk. They can give you the names of local pharmacies that can help you get a few days worth so that you aren’t going to miss your dose. There are pharmacies that will even deliver to your resort. Also, if you have medication that needs to be refrigerated, there is a mini fridge (or larger in some cases) in EVERY Disney Resort room.

3-If you are traveling with multiple generations, you may not want to go on it’s a small world 4 times in one day, it’s possible to plan fastpasses to please the whole party.

4-If you are on a special diet – Disney is super accommodating to ensure that your food is safe for you. Disney Culinary staff is very sensitive to
the dietary needs of their guests.

5-If you get a blister walking (and that’s easy to do) there are first aid stations in each park.
Sometimes there are band aids available at Disney shopping areas. It never hurts to ask.

6-If you need a room with handicapped accommodations, please tell me. I can arrange for you to
have a room that will make you as comfortable as possible.

7-Read the precautions on the rides. Disney posts them to assure that everyone is safe and has a
great time. If you don’t think a ride is for you, DON’T RIDE IT!!!

8-If you are driving and use a handicapped designation at home, bring proof so that you can park
in the handicapped areas of the parking lot.

9-Disney and outside companies rent ECVs as well as wheelchairs. If you use an assistive device
at home, you will probably need it on your vacation. I can arrange for you to have a rental
waiting for you if you don’t want to bring yours from home. Most Disney transportation has the
capability to let you board in, or with a wheelchair or ECV.

10-Fast passes are your best friend. No one wants to stand for an hour or more in the sun to ride.
We can arrange for you to have your day scheduled so that you see and do what you want.

11-Don’t be a hero! If you need a hotel break, take one. No one will think less of you if you decide to go hop in the pool or read a book.

Believe it or not, you are on vacation!!!

Here are some tips to make your trip memorable for all the right reasons:

1- Staying Hydrated is rule number 1 and the most important rule to a Disney Vacation. Take the time to have a drink and people watch. You can get a free cup of filtered Ice water at any quick service location. (Ask for 2) and carry a refillable water bottle. Overexerting yourself and going to the ER on your vacation is never fun – if you are hot or tired…(or both), stop rest and hydrate. (Add in a side of dole whip topped pineapple upside down cake for good measure). BTW, always carry your Insurance card in case it is ever needed and make sure you have someone to call in an emergency.

2- I’ll admit it. I take Blood Pressure medicine. If you forget to bring yours, all is not lost. Contact the front desk. There are pharmacies that will even deliver to the parks or your resort. Also, if you have medication that needs to be refrigerated there are refrigerators in every single Disney World resort room, and cooler bags are permitted into the parks.

3-If you are traveling with multiple generations, you my not want to ride it’s a small world 4-times in one day with some of your travel companions. You can manage fastpasses to make the whole crowd happy, and have a few set aside for more adult adventures.

4-If you are on a special diet – Disney is the place to be! Disney Culinary staff is very sensitive to the dietary needs of their guests. Most table service locations can accommodate your dietary needs with a variety of options. If you need special accommodation at quick service locations, your Castle Vacations agent can help you find locations with the most variety to fit your diet. You can also bring your own food into the parks in a soft sided cooler.

5-If you get a blister walking (and that’s easy to do) there are first aid stations in each park. This spot is also the place to head to if you feel “light” headed or overheated. They are fully staffed by medical professionals that can evaluate you or help you rehydrate if you have overexerted yourself.

6- If you need a room with handicapped accommodations, please tell your travel agent. They can arrange for you to have a room that will make you as comfortable as possible.

7-Read the precautions on the rides. Disney posts them to assure that everyone is safe and has a great time. If you don’t think a ride is for you, DON’T RIDE IT!!!

I can arrange for you to have a rental waiting for you if you don’t want to bring yours from home. Most Disney transportation has the capability to let you board in, or with a wheelchair or ECV. Most queues will allow you to wait while using your ECV and transferring to the ride. If you struggle to transfer, some rides can accommodate your ECV as well.

10- Fast passes are your best friend. No one wants to stand for an hour or more in the sun waiting on a ride. We can arrange for you to have your day scheduled so that you see and do what you want.

Encounter the First Order and Heroes of the Resistance at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

Encounter the First Order and Heroes of the Resistance at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

While living their adventure in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, you are likely to come across some familiar faces as they explore the planet of Batuu and Black Spire Outpost. Batuu is a far-flung destination along the galaxy’s Outer Rim, on the frontier of Wild Space – the uncharted region at the edge of the galaxy. The planet is home to Black Spire Outpost, an infamous port for smugglers, traders and adventurers wishing to avoid any unnecessary entanglements with the First Order, and in the ancient ruins outside Black Spire Outpost, locals report sightings of individuals associated with the Resistance.

Recently arrived First Order Stormtroopers bring a new presence throughout Black Spire Outpost, patrolling the area and engaging villagers and travelers alike. Wherever someone goes in Black Spire Outpost, the First Order is always watching! From time to time, Kylo Ren himself may even arrive in Black Spire Outpost, impressing upon its inhabitants the power and strength of the First Order. He consults with the First Order Officer assigned to this trading port and sets out with a contingent of Stormtroopers to interrogate the locals, seeking any Resistance sympathizers.

The mighty Wookiee, Chewbacca, may be spotted in Black Spire Outpost, rounding up new recruits for the Resistance and helping to establish a temporary base hidden away from the outpost and the prying eyes of the First Order. Vi Moradi, a Resistance spy working under orders from General Organa, makes her way through the area, sharing some of the tricks of her trade and ensuring those she encounters that the Resistance is getting stronger. And as you explore the wooded outskirts of the village, you may also encounter Rey as she greets recruits, champions the Resistance and inspires everyone she meets.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is the ultimate Star Wars experience! You can visit now at Disneyland® Resort, and it opens August 29, 2019, in Disney’s Hollywood Studios® at Walt Disney World® Resort.

Counting down to Aug. 29 and the launch of the 24th Epcot® International Food & Wine Festival, we have more exciting news about sips, bites and entertainment on tap for this longer-than-ever, 87-day event!

Starting with sips, you can check out the new Appleseed Orchard Marketplace which will offer a unique variety of craft brews, ciders, wines and lite bites. This new marketplace will be located next to Le Cellier Steakhouse in World Showcase. As we shared earlier, the “O Canada!” film will be refreshed with new footage and a projection-system upgrade for a visually-enhanced experience. While this behind-the-scenes work is in progress, the theater will transform to an all-new festival destination offering a cool respite.

At the Appleseed Orchard Marketplace, you will be able to pair apple-inspired beers, ciders and cocktails like the Apple Blossom Sky while nibbling on Charcuterie and Cheese. Brews, ciders and wines will be offered individually or as flights. And the kid-friendly Frozen Apple Pie drink will inspire a chill stroll to the next stop.

More sweet and savory treats will debut at the brand-new The Alps Marketplace, where you can conjure a snow-capped setting while dipping into a dish of Warm Raclette Swiss Cheese with Baby Potatoes, Cornichons and Baguette, or Venison Stew with Crushed Potatoes paired with a refreshing Frozen Rosé.

Also new this year, families can enjoy Emile’s Fromage Montage where you can sample a variety of delicious cheeses served in inventive ways. You can purchase any five cheese dishes from the official Global Marketplaces listed in the Festival Passport and collect a stamp for each cheese dish purchased. Once you have collected all five stamps, you can bring the stamped Festival Passport to Shimmering Sips for a complimentary specialty cheesecake unique to the EpcotInternational Food & Wine Festival.

And you can pair football mania with festival fun, no grills or picnic baskets required. Bookings start today for the new Tailgate Tasting hosted by ESPN’s Monday Night Football, available select Sundays starting Sept. 8 – Nov. 17. The 45-minute program will pair gridiron grub with a beverage tasting inspired by the cities of pro teams playing each Monday night. Even better, you will learn how to prepare the dishes for their next tailgate party!

Disney told you previously about the anticipated week-long expansion of the Disney du Jour Dance Party, with weekend Radio Disney artist appearances. Sundays through Thursdays, a DJ will lead the interactive fun. Fridays and Saturdays will feature performances by Radio Disney and Radio Disney Country artists and appearances from a few of your favorite Disney characters. You can catch headliners Meg Donnelly (“With U,” Disney Channel’s Zombies) Aug. 30-31, Jenna Raine (“A Letter to Me”) Sept. 13-14, Sky Katz (“Like This,” Disney Channel’s Raven’s Home) Oct. 11-12 and JAGMAC (“Like a Band”) Oct. 18-19 – they’ll want to dance the night away with family and friends!

And more NEW acts are joining the roster for the festival’s longest-ever Eat to the Beat Concert Series, returning this year from Aug. 29 – Nov. 19.
